As the world focuses on reducing the impact of climate change, related activities such as carbon footprinting and the allocation of responsibility for carbon emissions within the global supply chain have gained prominence. In this context, the following thesis of the work is proposed: This paper explores the division of carbon responsibilities of producers, consumers, income- earners, and shared responsible beings. It uses input-output analysis (IOA), multi-regional input-output (MRIO) and other modelling combinations to show how emissions are distributed across countries, regions and industries. It is imperative to concentrate on the distribution of responsibility within global value chains (GVAs). The majority of scholars are of the opinion that shared responsibility represents a fair method of carbon emission allocation. This is on the grounds that it proposes that producers and consumers should share the responsibility for carbon emissions in a reasonable ratio. Furthermore, scholars have put forth the concept of value-added distribution. Moreover, this study would also contribute to the field of education, providing valuable insights into how students can understand academic papers from their perspective.
